A lack of Support and Sponsorship is Keeping Women from Advancing into Leadership

Too few women are reaching the top of their organizations, and a big reason is that they are not getting the high-stakes assignments that are prerequisite for a shot at the C-suite. Often, this is due to a lack of powerful sponsors demanding and ensuring that they get these stepping-stone jobs. Ensuring that women get the sponsorship they need to move up has proved elusive for most organizations. Many companies have halted formal sponsorship programs, citing push back from executives who feel they are being asked to advocate for people they don’t know well or don’t think are ready. This isn’t a reason to give up on sponsorship; it’s an opportunity to reinvent how we approach it. Sponsorship is rarely something you simply turn on and off.  Rather, it’s a relationship, one that has evolved from lesser to greater trust and public commitment. If you want flexible working you have to be upfront and unashamed about it With two children there was no way I wanted to work full-time, so I began each job interview by pointing that out. I had two pre-school children at the time and wanted to work three days a week maximum. At the interview stage I raised the issue unashamedly; I wanted to be upfront about what would work for me and why I thought I would be good for the firm. రూ.వందల కోట్ల విలువైన పాల ఉత్పత్తి సంస్థను నిర్వహిస్తున్న డ్వాక్రా మహిళలు 2,279 గ్రామాల నుంచి సేకరణ 94 పాల శీతలీకరణ కేంద్రాలు, రూ.175 కోట్ల చెల్లింపులు చిత్తూరు, అనంతపురం జిల్లాల్లో సేవలు వారంతా సాధారణ మహిళలే. చేయీ చేయీ కలిపారు. క్షీరసాగరాన్ని మధించే స్థాయికి ఎదిగారు. గ్రామాల్లో పాల సేకరణతో వందల మందికి ఉపాధిని కల్పిస్తూ దిల్లీ స్థాయిలో వ్యాపారం చేస్తున్నారు. ఇంటిని చక్కబెట్టినంత తేలిగ్గా.. సంస్థను నడిపిస్తూ సరికొత్త పాలవెల్లువను సృష్టిస్తున్నారు. ఒకటి రెండు కాదు.. రెండు వేల గ్రామాల్లో.. రోజూ మూడు లక్షల లీటర్ల పాలను సేకరించి సరఫరా చేస్తున్నారు. ఎక్కడా ఏమాత్రం తేడా లేకుండా.. అంతా పక్కాగా నడిపిస్తున్నారు. వీరి క్షీర సామ్రాజ్యాన్ని పరిశీలిస్తే ఎంతవారైనా ఔరా..! అనకమానరు. ఆ మహిళలు ఎక్కడి వారో కాదు. మన తెలుగువారే. అనంత, చిత్తూరు జిల్లాలకు చెందిన ఆడపచులే. దేశంలోనే పూర్తిగా మహిళల ఆధ్వర్యంలో నడుస్తున్న పాల ఉత్పత్తి మండలిపై ప్రత్యేక కథనం. రెండు వేల గ్రామాలు... 94 పాల శీతలీకరణ కేంద్రాలు.. రోజుకు 3 లక్షల లీటర్ల సేకరణ.. దిల్లీకీ సరఫరా.. ఇదంతా సజావుగా సాగుతుందంటే దానివెనుక ప్రభుత్వ యంత్రాంగమో.
