Tech: Apple's iPhone 7 Causes Frenzy In South Korea -- Is Samsung's Hold Over Its Home Turf In Jeopardy?

Telecom stores and boutique electronics retailers across South Korea flooded with Apple fanatics all day Friday in hot pursuit of the  iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with lines of 200 at some of the biggest stores before opening hours. At a telecom megastore in Seoul’s downtown Gwanghwamun,  25-year-old Yoo Byung-moon  camped out for  four days  to be the first in the country to collect the most popular Apple phone in Korea yet, priced between 869,000 won and 1.28 million won (about $764-$1,125). Some reports  estimated total sales  at 300,000 units on opening day, whereas 10,000 units is considered a success in Korea. Other loyal fans who were quick enough to preorder early picked up their phones in a calm, orderly manner. James Oh, who has a Galaxy S series for work and iPhone for personal use, was one of the thousands to book an iPhone when preorders opened last Friday. The three major telecoms reported record preorders, double the demand for the iPhone 6 and selling out a

New iPhone With Camera Embedded On Screen And Bendable Samsung Displays Possible By 2017, Rumors Say

There are two main ways to look at the current smartphone landscape. The glass-half-full approach is to appreciate the fact that smartphone production quality have become so consistent across the board that even budget handsets from obscure companies run smoothly and offer a more-than-usable experience for the average consumer. The glass-half-empty approach is to point out that smartphone tech has plateaued in recent years — that no phone has been a true game-changer like the first and fourth iPhone. If rumors are to go by, however, 2017 could be the year that smartphones begin to wow again.  Bloomberg  is reporting that Samsung is planning on releasing phones with bendable and foldable screens. While the  Apple rumor mill  is buzzing about a new iPhone (not the one coming this fall, but the one after that) that will rock a edge-to-edge display (meaning no bezels) with its front-facing camera and fingerprint scanner embedded on the screen itself. Galaxy S7 Has Two Nasty Surprises

Do you know what’s great about the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge?  Almost everything . Samsung has married the style of the Galaxy S6 with the substance of the Galaxy S5. But 24 hours after launch two nasty (and potentially deal breaking) surprises have been discovered…     Nasty Surprise #1 One of the most lauded features of the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is the  return of microSD expandable storage . Its omission from the Galaxy S6 was derided by many and Samsung has been rightly praised this time for listening to customers and making a U-turn. What’s more, the Galaxy S7 ships with Android Marshmallow which is the perfect companion to microSD. This is because Marshmallow can treat expandable storage just like internal storage. For example, if your 32GB Galaxy S7 adds a 200GB microSD card Marshmallow will report you now have 232GB of space for install apps, store photos and video – anything you want.   But here comes the nasty surprise: Samsung hasn’t implemen
