Facebook Expands Local Ad Products For Businesses With Multiple Storefronts

Businesses with multiple storefronts can now translate into even more advertising deals for Facebook. On Thursday,  Facebook   FB +4.63%  announced the launch of two new local marketing products  aimed at making it easier for businesses with multiple locations to create local ads for each store and better understand customers in each area. The first new tool allows businesses to easily create location-specific ads based on each of their “Pages.” The update allows  businesses  to use the Pages for each of their locations to pull in different ad copy, links and call-to-action buttons, making unique ads for individual stores. For example, a cafe using the product, called “local awareness ads,” could choose to automatically insert a different city name in their ad, depending on the location of the people seeing the ad. People in San Francisco might see, “Join us for dinner in San Francisco,” while those in Dallas would see “Join us for dinner in Dallas.” Call-to-action buttons such

Facebook's reply to the 'open letter' on 'real name' policy

Facebook is tweaking its 'real name' policy. The policy, which has been termed 'inherently discriminatory' by some, will see some alterations to allow users to explain their name choices. The policy has received criticism mostly from members of the LGBT communities and advocates who face problems and feel uncomfortable using their real names due to the nature of their work. According to Facebook's 'real name' policy, users should go by their 'authentic name' when on the social network rather than a pseudonyms. These changes will help people who face this problem provide clearer context to their wishes to keep a different name. Facebook is expected to roll out the policy in December. Mark Zuckerberg's townhall at IIT Delhi also touched upon a very important question-Candy Crush requests! Facebook 's  Mark Zuckerberg  began his  Townhall  Q&A at IIT Delhi at Dogra Hall, which has a capacity of 1, 100 people. Facebook improves notifications for mobile, goes for ‘cards’ approach

Facebook's new notifications on the mobile app will let users customise information, according to life events or birthdays, Sports scores, TV reminders, etc  Facebook notifications will undergo a revamp on the mobile app as the company plans to introduce a ‘card-style’ of presenting these. Facebook made the announcement in a press statement and said that they will start rolling out the expanded notifications to Android and iPhone users in the US first. The new notifications style will let users customise information according to life events or birthdays, Sports scores, TV reminders (based on pages a user likes on Facebook), alerts about upcoming events, etc. In short, bid goodbye to that long list of notifications and get ready for a more list-based style of alerts. Facebook 'Reactions' test lets you express many more feelings than just 'like'

The social network leader will venture beyond the thumbs-up with a test starting Friday for residents of Ireland and Spain. Facebook users, prepare to express yourselves Starting Friday, the world's largest social network will begin a test in which people get a much fuller range of responses than just the iconic thumbs-up "like." The feature, dubbed Reactions, will offer icons to express love, laughter, happiness, shock, sadness and anger, a company representative said Thursday. Facebook tops networking, WhatsApp in messaging apps in India: Report

Facebook remains the most popular social networking site in India with 51 per cent of users logging on daily, while WhatsApp tops the list of instant messaging (IM) apps, according to report by global research consultancy firm TNS. As per the findings of ‘Connected Life’ — a global study of the digital attitudes and behaviours of 60,500 internet users across 50 countries, 55 per cent are on instant messaging every day. In India, Facebook continues its dominance for social networking platforms with 51 per cent of the users while WhatsApp is the most popular for instant messaging app with 56 per cent of users, TNS said in a statement. Commenting on the findings, TNS India Executive Director Parijat Chakraborty said, “The social networking market of India is Facebook centric, which is fuelling the adoption of Facebook Messenger also as the IM platform for private messaging.
