Apple Leak Reveals Massive, Expensive New iPhone

The iPhone 8 (some claim it will be called the ‘iPhone X’), is going to be the  most radical redesign  of  Apple   AAPL +0.59% ’s smartphone range to date. And now a major source has just revealed its biggest new feature and most painful drawback… Nikkei, the world’s largest financial newspaper, has  reported  that Apple will launch three configurations of iPhone in 2017. Two of these are expected to be incremental updates on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (with iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus branding), and an iPhone 8 with an all new OLED display measuring a massive 5.8-inches. This would mean the iPhone 8 has the largest display of any iPhone ever made and is significantly larger than any current mass market smartphones (though the  Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will change that ). The good news for those worried the iPhone 8 will be too big is  corroborating reports  say Apple will shrink the top and bottom bezels to make it smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus. The pain poin

This Technology Could Replace the Keyboard and Mouse

For the early part of my technology career, keyboards were the only user interface available. Even with early machines like the  Apple   II and the first   IBM   PCs, it was keyboards-only. But in 1984, Apple's Macintosh introduced the graphical user interface and mouse to a wide audience, and a whole new way to interact with a computer was born. Us old-timers took a while to get the hang of digital desktops and mice. But eventually, using them became second nature. Today, pretty much all of our computing devices use some form of graphical user interface with either a mouse, a stylus, or a user's finger as an input device. (Voice-activated gadgets like the  Amazon Echo  aside.) But after over three decades of mouse-and-keyboard computing, we're on the precipice of the next major advancement in user interfaces: Virtual and augmented reality, or VR and AR. Taken together, VR and AR are on track to become the dominant method of computer interaction within the next 10-1

Apple iOS 10.1.1 Is Now Available: What Is Included In The Update?

Apple has released iOS 10.1.1 to the general public today. The iOS 10.1.1 update comes  one week after iOS 10.1 was released .  The reason why Apple quickly issued this software update is because it fixes a bug that Forbes contributor  Gordon Kelly reported exclusively last week . Apple declined to reply to requests to acknowledge the bug until now.  You can install iOS 10.1.1 by connecting your device to iTunes or downloading it by going to  Settings > General > Software Update . The iOS 10.1.1 update is available for the following devices: iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th generation and later and iPod touch 6th generation and later. What Is Included In The Update? The software update is relatively small at under 70MB, which indicates that it is a minor update with a few bug fixes.  There weren’t any betas of iOS 10.1.1 either.  And  the changelog of the iOS 10.1.1 software update says:  “This update fixes bugs including an issue where Health data could not be viewed for som

Tech: Apple's iPhone 7 Causes Frenzy In South Korea -- Is Samsung's Hold Over Its Home Turf In Jeopardy?

Telecom stores and boutique electronics retailers across South Korea flooded with Apple fanatics all day Friday in hot pursuit of the  iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with lines of 200 at some of the biggest stores before opening hours. At a telecom megastore in Seoul’s downtown Gwanghwamun,  25-year-old Yoo Byung-moon  camped out for  four days  to be the first in the country to collect the most popular Apple phone in Korea yet, priced between 869,000 won and 1.28 million won (about $764-$1,125). Some reports  estimated total sales  at 300,000 units on opening day, whereas 10,000 units is considered a success in Korea. Other loyal fans who were quick enough to preorder early picked up their phones in a calm, orderly manner. James Oh, who has a Galaxy S series for work and iPhone for personal use, was one of the thousands to book an iPhone when preorders opened last Friday. The three major telecoms reported record preorders, double the demand for the iPhone 6 and selling out a
