'Pokémon GO' Hype Bubble Pops For Nintendo's Shares

The hype cycle for  Pokémon GO   wasn’t going to last forever, and on Monday investors decided it had finally gone to far. The catalyst was a warning from  Nintendo   , issued before its official earnings announcement later this week, that the release of its viral, mobile game would have a “minimal” impact on Nintendo’s profits. Shares of Nintendo dropped 17% by noon in Tokyo, wiping more than $6 billion off the company’s market value. The stock is limited from falling by more than 18%, based on exchange rules in Tokyo. It comes after Nintendo’s shares have more than doubled in value since the game debuted in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand on July 6, following unprecedented success that sent  Pokémon GO  to the top of apps store charts. Despite the fall in shares on M

The 5 Questions Every Job Interview Is About And How You Should Answer Them

On average, job interviews last for 40 minutes. This means there is only a short window of opportunity for a candidate to make a good impression on an interviewer. However, it also means that there is equal if not greater pressure on the interviewer in this small amount of time, to gather all the information they need in order to assess whether the person sat in front of them is a viable hire. In order to meet this challenge, interviewing techniques have developed at a rapid pace. Eye contact and brain teasers have given way to competence or behavioural based questioning. No matter how complex some interviewing methods may sound, it’s important to remember that most interviewers have no interest in trying to trick you or catch you out. Quite the opposite in fact. Most interviews simply come down to your interviewer trying to find the answers to the following questions. Q #1 : Can You Do The Job? The most obvious question, but one with at least a few a layers of complexity. At

8 Secrets Of Great Communicators

When it comes to communication, we all tend to think we’re pretty good at it. Truth is, even those of us who are good communicators aren’t nearly as good as we think we are. This overestimation of our ability to communicate is magnified when interacting with people we know well. Researchers at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business put this theory to the test and what they discovered is startling. In the study, the researchers paired subjects with people they knew well and then again with people they’d never met. The researchers discovered that people who knew each other well understood each other no better than people who’d just met! Even worse, participants frequently overestimated their ability to communicate, and this was more pronounced with people they knew well. “Our problem in communicating with friends is that we have an illusion of insight,” said study co-author Nicholas Epley. “Getting close to someone appears to create the illusion of understanding more

Quiet, smaller U.S. cities lure Indian techies

India’s IT professionals are moving to non-traditional destinations in droves in search of the right work-life balance. It was not a hot destination for an IT start-up when Kevin Eichelberger left Atlanta and moved to Charleston to set up Blue Acorn, a company that offers data-driven optimisation techniques to midlevel e-commerce platforms. The limited space it had for its seven employees seven years ago required someone to leave before it could receive a visitor. The company’s sprawling office today has abundant space not only for its 130 employees, but also their pet dogs that sniff around Mac machines and pizza boxes. “Our primary competitors and peers are all in primary cities like New York, LA and Chicago. Charleston is not known for tech. But things are changing fast,” Mr. Eichelberger said, sipping beer. “In the last seven years things have changed. We have an advantage of being in a smaller city. Quality of life, affordable spaces – for companies and homes, lowe
